Tristar provided complete contract administration and construction oversight for the MCDOT’s first CM@Risk project, which was the County’s largest single transportation infrastructure construction project with an estimated construction cost of nearly $50.8M. The primary purpose of the project is to provide an additional all-weather access across the Gila River.
This project received the 2008 PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute) Bridge Award for bridges with spans more than 150-feet. The project included a new roundabout intersection for Cotton Lane with Estrella Parkway; a new six-lane, 2,060-foot, 17-span AASHTO Type VI Girder Bridge over the Gila River; a new single-span bridge over the Buckeye Water Conservation and Irrigation District Canal; and a new signalized intersection for Cotton Lane and MC-85 that will accommodate three lanes, dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes in all directions.
Tristar’s responsibilities included complete construction administration and inspection of all roadway, bridge, channelization, electrical and signal construction. Tristar was responsible for all project documentation, tracking and verifying contractor payments, tracking and reviewing shop drawings and related submittals and oversight of the quality assurance program for materials sampling and testing.
